Its all in the glove...
Imagine a beauty adorned with black sheers and Italian corsetry only to be tempted by the simple peeling of the glove. This Tom Waits classic piece in rife with slow and sultry looks, liquid movement and poise, and all the remaining ingredients for pure tease.
To be so French and Fabulous...
What more is there to be said about pearls, tulle, French music? Only that they come hand in hand with attitude, glamour and cheeky seduction. A twist on classic burlesque tease.
Darkness meets seductive awakening...
A piece of exploration - a performer suddenly becomes aware of the presence of her audience in front of her. The passion and intensity of the music, a cellist cover of a Metallica song, is reflected in her movements. She is acutely aware of the impact a gesture can make on those watching. This piece is riddled with fierce glances and moments that provoke the audience.
Travelling back with Duke Ellington and Cootie Williams, this classic number is pure and simple: seduction and strip in all of Burlesques glory. This piece is classic and classy.
Timid beauty, adorned with flowers and hiding behind locks of hair. French music trickling and tantalising. As each flower falls, so does inhibition.
Dont look down...
She balances on the edge, a deathly fall awaits should she fall even slightly off kilt. A red ribbon before her, an eager audience beside her, and a pair of black ribboned Pointe shoes supporting her every move. She travels back and forth like a high rope walker, peeling layers of clothing, a carnival of burlesque.
This burlesque clown, come ragdoll, will intrigue, intimidate and surprise you. Adorned with a leather whip, this character is calculating and curious of any audience. Watch out.
Simply put: Swan Lake meets Burlesque
A beautiful and fragile swan gushes to the stage concealed by her feathered wings. In time she explores the use of her feet, legs and arms and takes flight by shedding that which hides her. This piece is performed to a classic 7 min Tchaikovsky score and exhibits the graceful years of Scarletts classical ballet training- naturally with a hint of yearning and seduction.
Atrocity - Burlesque du Grand Guignol - www.atrocityburlesque.com
In the year 1897 in the red-light district of Pigalle, Montmatre (not far from the Moulin Rouge), a dangerous theatrical philosophy- the Theatre du Grand Guignol- was born. Founded by Oscar Metenier and helmed by director Max Maury and writer Andre DeLorde (The 'Prince of Terror'), Grand Guignol shocked all of Europe with performances that tore audiences' moral sensibilities to shreds.
Night after night, it served up a potent mix of violence, sexual debasement, terror, insanity, torture, murder and dark humor, challenging audiences and attacking
contemporary society's political and social hypocrises.
And now it begins again.
Forma (Beauty) - played by Scarlett
"Judge nothing by appearance. The more beautiful the serpent- the more fatal it's sting." -William Scott Downey
Beauty in all of it's guises- Forma is sad, innocent, dangerous, deceptive, treacherous, jealous and ugly all at once. She is the personification of feminine mystique and allure- fleeting, entrancing, unattainable. She is every little girl on the brink of sexuality...every seasoned woman...every broken whore,...
Flitting from one form to another, Forma plays on the audiences' heart-strings like a nimble harpist. A tragic figure, the bird with a broken wing forever in a hunter's sights...she is a silent and languid ghost, a delicate wraith of a whispering phantom whose loveliness can set one free...or ensnare and destroy them.
